Fun things to do in Zurich in fall and winter: try The Dance Class

The clocks go back, it gets dark at half past four and suddenly the whole city is wearing the same black puffer jacket. Hello, fall and winter 🙂 If you’re looking for fun things to do in Zurich in fall and winter, you’re in the right place.
Let me guess your plan for the next months: work, sofa, blanket, a series you’ve “almost finished”. Nothing wrong with that. But after a few weeks even the best sofa starts to feel like a waiting room.
So here’s my idea for something fun to do in Zurich when it’s cold and grey: come and dance with us. In a warm studio, with music, with other women, and with a reason to leave the house on a Tuesday evening.
Why dance is one of the most fun things to do in Zurich in fall and winter
When it’s dark and cold, most of us move less and see fewer people. Dance fixes both in one hour. It’s indoors (no weather drama), it’s warm (you will definitely stop wearing the puffer jacket), and it gives you something to look forward to every week. And let’s be honest: it’s much more fun than another evening of scrolling.
There’s music, there’s movement, there’s a room full of women who are a little nervous at the beginning and then, very quickly, not. Most women leave their first class with a sore body and a BIG smile. The body recovers in a day or two. The smile stays 🙂
What you can try at The Dance Class
Every Tuesday in Zurich:
- High heels dance at 18:00. Walks, turns, floor work and a short choreography. Heels are optional for beginners, so you can dance barefoot or in socks.
- Lyrical jazz at 19:00. Soft, flowing and emotional. Very friendly for grown-up beginners.
And if Tuesdays don’t work for you, there’s more:
- Dance & Connect workshops, for a one-off try with other women.
- Live online classes, so your living room becomes the studio (pyjamas allowed, I won’t tell).
- Private classes in Zurich, just for you or for you and a friend.
“But I’ve never danced”
Perfect, you’re exactly who these classes are for. All classes are taught in English and beginners are very welcome. You don’t need experience, perfect outfits or your own heels. I even lend shoes for your first class. If you’d like to know what to expect before you come, start with my guide on what to wear to your first heels class.
New in Zurich? Even better
A new city can feel quiet, especially when the days are short. A class is a very easy way to meet women who are in the same boat, without the awkward “so, what do you do?” small talk. You warm up together, laugh at the same wobbly turn, and by the end you’re already chatting like old friends.
Where and when
The Dance Class takes place every Tuesday at Studio Le Nid Kulturraum, Rüdigerstrasse 10, 8045 Zürich, a few minutes from Sihlcity. Heels dance starts at 18:00, lyrical jazz at 19:00. Come 5-10 minutes early so you have time to change and say hi. You can book your first class as a trial class and see how it feels before you commit to anything.
